Sertoma

The word Sertoma means "SERvice TO MAnkind". Each club can choose to provide funding for help in many areas. Our club, the Heart of Texas Sertoma Club, has concentrated on helping hard of hearing children in McLennan County by providing hearing aids for them through the SHARP program. We work in partnership with Dr. Carrie Caviness at the Baylor University Speech and Hearing Clinic .  We also support the deaf and hard of hearing community in other activities.  The Heart of Texas Sertoma Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity. In 2009, we began giving scholarships to deaf or hard of hearing seniors in high school entering college and deaf and hard of hearing college students.

The Heart of Texas Sertoma Club meets on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month at 12 noon at Uncle Dans on Lake Air .  Our major fundraising event each year is the Kite Festival, which is free to the public. All of proceeds from our fundraisers and contributions are used locally (McLennan County).
